A Different Gulmarg
Most people picture Gulmarg buried in snow. But from May to September it’s a wide green meadow - the name literally means “meadow of flowers” - ringed by forest and distant white peaks. Walk the Meadow
The simplest pleasure here is just walking. Wildflowers, grazing horses, and the treeline give way to mountain views in every direction. No ticket, no guide needed.
The Highest Golf Course in the World
Gulmarg’s golf course sits above 2,650 metres - one of the highest anywhere. Even non-golfers can walk the edges for the views.
Trek to Khilanmarg
A short, steep walk (or pony ride) from the meadow brings you to Khilanmarg, a smaller upper meadow with a big payoff view of the Kashmir Valley. Do it on a clear morning.
Still Ride the Gondola
Even in summer, Phase 2 of the gondola reaches snow near Apharwat. Take a jacket - it’s a novelty to touch snow in July with green meadows below.
