One Valley, Many Moods
People arrive picturing a single postcard of Kashmir and leave surprised by how many different places it holds. The classic circuit strings together four of them, and each feels like its own world.
Srinagar - Water and Old Stone
The valley’s soul. Glide across Dal Lake at dawn, wander the Mughal gardens, and lose an afternoon in the old city’s shrines, bakeries, and back lanes. This is where Kashmir feels most itself.
Gulmarg - Meadows and Snow
A wide meadow of wildflowers in summer, a snow kingdom in winter, and always the gondola climbing towards Apharwat Peak. Green below, white above. See our full Gulmarg summer guide for what to do when there’s no snow.
Pahalgam - Rivers and Valleys
Where the Lidder river runs cold and clear between pine slopes. Betaab and Aru valleys open out nearby, and the meadow of Baisaran waits up in the hills. Pony rides are one of the best ways to reach the upper meadows.
Sonamarg - The High Country
The “meadow of gold,” gateway to glaciers and snow bridges, where the mountains close in and the air turns sharp. The most dramatic drive of the trip.
