A Short, Spectacular Season
For most of the year the terraces on the Zabarwan slopes are quiet. Then, for a few weeks in spring, they explode - row after row of tulips in every colour, more than a million of them, laid out above the shining sweep of Dal Lake. It’s Asia’s largest tulip garden, and its season is gloriously brief.
Colour Against Mountains
What makes it special isn’t just the flowers - it’s the setting. The tulips run in bright terraces with the lake below and snow still on the peaks behind. Few flower gardens anywhere have a backdrop like this.
Go Early, Go in Bloom
The blooms don’t wait, and the crowds build through the day, so an early morning visit near peak bloom is the sweet spot. Spring in Srinagar also brings blossom across the whole city - the tulips are just the loudest note.
